Dear HAUS Member and anyone in Ohio with a
connection to Universität Heidelberg in Deutschland.

We’re planning our 5th annual get-together in Ohio to celebrate our Uni roots. This time we’ll meet in Columbus, right in the center of the state. Here’s the plan:

We’ll tour the world’s most authentic, museum quality replica of Chris Columbus’ flagship, the Santa Maria, docked on the Scioto River in Columbus. Here’s their website:

After that, we’ll tour the Brothers Drake Meadery where we’ll taste a different kind of fermented drink, mead, made from honey. Here’s their website:

Date: Saturday, May 4, 2013

1:00 pm          Meet at the Santa Maria, at 25 Marconi Blvd., betw. Long and Broad; cost $4.50.

2:30 pm          Meet at the Brothers Drake Meadery, 26 E. 5th Ave. (near High St.). The tour will start at 3:00 pm and cost $10.

4:00 pm          Dine at the Brothers Drake Restaurant, with a glass of mead perhaps.

We’ll have a great time revisiting our European roots and sharing our Heidelberg experiences. Of course, significant others are invited, even if they weren’t lucky enough to spend time at the Uni in Heidelberg.

Please email your positive response to Mark Peeples so that we can plan and make the appropriate reservations:

If you arrive earlier or stay later, there are lots of other things to do in Columbus:

·       Columbus Zoo and Aquarium: world-class, of Jack Hanna fame

·       Columbus Museum of Science and Industry (COSI)

·       Franklin Park Conservatory with glass sculptures and “Blooms and Butterflies” exhibit

·       Columbus Museum of Art - Mark Rothko 1940-1950

·       The Ohio State Capitol and the The Ohio State University

We’ll send you more info as we get closer.

Hope to see you all in Columbus soon!

Herzliche Grusse,

The Ohio Regional Chairs of the Heidelberg Alumni U.S. (HAUS)
